to one of the most picturesque regions of Iceland and enjoy an ATV trip
along a deserted beach, a dip in a geothermal hot tub, exquisite cuisine –
and of course a close-up encounter with the legendary Vatnajökull Glacier.
Itinerary
Day 1: Flight from Reykjavík to Höfn in Hornafjörður, a young town partially framed by Europe’s largest glacier, Vatnajökull. This glacier and its various tongues flow along the steep mountainsides, gently dominating the region’s coastline.
Three
course meal including fresh lobster at Hotel Höfn.
Evening is free to explore the town and possibly catch a glimpse of the
elusive northern lights.
Day 2: A day tour of the Vatnajökull region, including:
ATV tour experiencing Iceland's incredible landscape in the area of the mighty glacier up close. If we're lucky we will glimpse herds of reindeers, in the only place in Iceland where this is possible.- Spectacular view of the Vatnajökull region from the picturesque viewpoint called Almannaskarð.
- Trip to Stokksnes, site of a Cold War-era NATO base (and a popular resting place for seals).
- Visit to Hoffellsjökull glacier and take a dip in the geothermal
